Hotelier Partners Sought FF&E Installation in Downtown Hotel Opening

Company

Based in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, this privately-held company owns and operates a number of hotels across the U.S.; 50 facilities in 30 states as of 2014, to be exact. The company’s franchises include brands such as Marriot, JW Marriot, Renaissance, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn, Crowne Plaza, Westin, Sheraton, Radisson, Tan-Tar-A Resort, Hilton and Howard Johnson.

Challenge

Opening a new hotel facility is a daunting task for any hotelier. FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment) installation for large-scale hotels is a highly-detailed and strenuous venture, from maintaining the brand standards of the represented chain, to selecting from approved manufacturers, to managing on-site vendors and general contractors.

As this hotel owner-operator looked to open a new property in downtown Cincinnati, they were faced with an aggressive construction schedule in a constricted and high-traffic urban area. The company sought a logistics provider who would be able to deliver materials to the job site as needed and complete all FF&E installation work for the project. This logistics provider needed to be experienced in working in a congested and fast-paced environment, and in completing projects on time and on budget. 

Solution

Planes Specialized Logistics was brought in to assist with the project, moving and installing furniture, branded elements, fixtures and other equipment in a new 330-room hotel. An experienced and professional Planes coordination team was designated to maximize productivity and overcome any on-site challenges. By utilizing a custom quality assurance document (see below), Planes holds all furniture installers accountable for all services performed, providing the client with a clear chain of custody and peace of mind.

In an effort to minimize interference with other vendors, Planes crews worked between 6pm and 3am to install furniture in all guest rooms. As with each Planes project, to ensure consistent communication and seamless delivery and installation of all furniture and fixtures, a single point of contact at Planes was specified for the client. Detailed, daily updates were provided, and the client was able to coordinate all vendor schedules to best suit their needs.
